Contemplating the Nikon Normal AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.4D Autofocus Lens

I'm really interested in the Nikon Normal AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.4D Autofocus Lens.

Features:

One of the most widely used autofocus lenses in all of photography. Fast enough for shooting in just about any type of light. Distortion-free images with superb resolution and color rendition. Weighs only 9.0 ounces. An ideal first lens, perfect for full-length portraits, travel photography or any type of available-light shooting. Accepts 52mm filters; HR-2 lens hood.

The reason I love it is because of the 2nd sentence. Fast enough for shooting in just about any type of light. This will be excellent for indoor photos at parties, weddings, anything where you'd prefer not to you use your flash when there is available light. A flash isn't a bad thing but avoiding the need with an awesome lens like this is a great thing.

My Favorite Model...Ummm...Make That One of My Only Models....Me Again

Today we had lots-o-snow so I worked from home until my company closed. I was so bored that I went outside and shot some macro photos of the snow and water droplets and that didn't last long because of the freezing rain that was falling (see post below for the snow shots).

So, what else is there to do when you're bored? I decided I would take photos of my favorite model...hmm....well one of my FEW models....ME.

If you're not sick of seeing my "mug" yet...here is what I experimened with today...

It's hard to get a great focus on the eye when you're doing self portrais but the more practice I have the more I'm getting better at it.

These are all taken with Natural lighting from my window (first time trying this indoors):

YAY for snow!

For some reason I'm really excited that it's snowing. Don't ask me why...I just am!

Nothing special photographically - I took these out my back door through the window so the quality isn't perfect but I wanted to capture the snow.

I may get out later and take a ride and capture some photos of the snowy day...let's see if I can actually bring myself to get all bundled up and go out in the cold!!

After Lucas had fun in the snow I went outside on my own with my new Nikon 105mm AF-S VR f/2.8G IF-ED lens and shot the following shots.

Each of them are obviously water droplets but what I was so enthralled with today were the reflections in the water droplets.

I had very hard time hand holding the macros while trying to auto-focus. I was insistent on trying anyway because I didn't want to lug the tripod outside in the snow with the rainy mist that was falling and the overall slushy conditions. So, I did the best I could with the photo taken conditions.

I took so many more but the focus wasn't there were I wanted.

I Am...

He Had His Own Photoshoot And Boy Do I Love Him!

You'll have to bare with me on this post...mainly because there are a lot of photos! There are a lot because they contain my 2 favorite living beings on this planet....My Tom (hubby) & My Lucas (my Lab).

After I was done with my self portraits the other night I invited my buddy Lucas to join in a few shots with me...check us out!:











And by this point it's like he's saying "enough, enough already!"
