LIGHTS! Camera! Great Subjects!

Lighting seemed to be a big theme for me on Friday's visit to Princeton. I noticed it as I was editing the photos. I thought I'd dedicate today's blog post to it.

I love this old campus and the architecture...the fine details in things like lighting, doors, decorative details blow me away!

PRINCETON II - At the Cathedral on Campus

Firstly I needed to share this because it's so me!



Today I spent another couple hours walking around Princeton University taking multiple exposures of the campus as well as the beautiful church on the campus which became my favorite part of the day for photos.

A few hightlights from today's visit to Princeton University. I stopped in the huge church on campus and got some wonderful HDR shots:

Hallowed Halls of Princeton University

This series is from the hour I spent last Saturday on the Princeton University campus. I don't see a lot of architecture that is as beautiful as the craftsmanship of these buildings too often!

Out and About in Princeton

Today I had to run some errands and decided to bring the tripod camera. I headed towards Princeton, NJ and parked on the main street and decided to focus on one area of the campus with beautiful architecture.

I did everything with 3 exposures so I could create some HDRs in Photomatrix with the photos taken.

I spent about one hour on the campus and got what I think are some great shots but then my $1.25 for our hour on the parking meter was up and I had no more change so I had to leave or get a ticket!

Before I headed home I stopped back at 2 areas I wanted to revisit (both were on the same rocky road). One was an abandoned nursury/green houses of sorts that is huge and strangely is completely fenced in around it -- and the other was right down the rocky path which eventually turned into paved road -- a was a number of abandoned homes.

I photgraphed the abandoned nursery in the most pleasing way possible (due to the chain link fence around it) and I found a bit of higher ground in the field next to it where I could get a better look and some better photos that were all behind a fence.

When I was done there I explored the street with the abandoned houses although I wasn't sure if I'd find anything worthy of photographing. I make a turn and found that one of the houses had a huge barn that was somewhat falling apart - which is right up my alley (and oerfect for HDR photography)!

I photographed there as quick as I could because I'm sure these boarded up homes were "no trespassing!" The barn made some great photos along with a falling down clothesline that caught my interest.

After I edit them I will post away!

Another Photo Trip Before Dark

Worked on editing photos all day and putting them on my website hosted by Smugmug.

Around 3:30pm I got tired of sitting around the house and I decided to run out to the D&R Canal close to my house to try to shoot some more RAW format multiple exposures to create more HDR photographs in Photomatrix.

Luckily the weather was a little warmer than the past couple days were. I took quite a few images while I was out and I'm going to be working on them tonight and tomorrow. Here are some new ones from today:

Quick Little Photo Trip - Turned Out To Be Very Fruitful!

I spent the day indoors today working on my family portraits from Thanksgiving and decorating the house for Christmas. Around 3:30pm I decided to run out for a few minutes to get some photos in locally before the sun went down.

I stopped at an area I found on Thursday that was part of the D&R Canal. Just when I think I've seen all of the canal I keep discovering so many more great parts of it.

I went out purposely to take more RAW shots in multiple exposures (3). I've been on a kick of working on HDR's and I'm loving the results I get with a lot of them.

These are some I took today and worked on in Photomatrix.

This one was a random find. I came to the end of a street and found this sight before my eyes. I literally stopped the car, pulled out the camera and tripod, shot a number of shots, and then got back in my car to get to my next destination. I just can't pass up a great tree-lined path like this!

This photo was take at St. Joseph's Seminary. The building pictured is the Mary Immaculate Library. I never knew this place exsisted even though I've lived close to this area all of my life. When I was done with my photo hunt on Thursday I decided to take a new way home and found it (I always suggest doing this. You can find some great photo ops you never knew existed this way). SO today I went back to photograph it. After I was done a priest came out to chat and told me I'm welcome to photograph the chapel anytime which I thought was nice because I love photographing churches and there's was a nice one (I just didn't have time).

This was a spot right near the seminary. I love how this came out. I wished it wasn't getting dark while taking these shots but I think they worked out for the best with the dark shadows.
