Another AWESOME sunset...and my last "after work photo hunt" until spring

Today was my last chance to take some photos after work with the time change on Sunday. I didn't have much time for daylight when I was at the park so I took some shots of the fall colors reflecting in the lake and some fall leaves:

Then at the park I managed to capture some of the sunset:

After the park I decided I would head home...but...before that I ended up making more stops along the way (I just couldn't help myself when I saw the way the sky looked today because of the sunset over the canal...oh my...)

When the sun finally set I snapped this one before driving the rest of the way to my house. It's the barn that I love ...although it's hard to tell what it is..I like it though..it's really DARK!

Fall Colors on the Canal

I passed by a new section of the canal I found when I tried an alternate way home and I found some great fall colors in shades of oranges and yellows. The weather was pretty bad last week when I found it or I didn't remember my camera so today when I left for work I made sure I had the camera with me.

Then I purposely prepared to leave right on time today to make sure I made it to that area of the canal (which is at the end of my drive) so that I'd have enough time before the sunset.

Well I rushed there (left 5 mins later than I wanted to) and by the time I got there it was pretty dark and the sun was setting. The tall trees blocked the little sun that was left but I tired my best to get salvagable images out of what I saw.

Now that it's getting darker and darker each day I won't have these lovely after work photography times like I've enjoyed from April through the present. So, I wanted to squeeze every last moment in that I could getting these fall colors.

No, it's not upside down...it's the reflection in the canal:

I guess when it gets too dark to take photos after work it will force me to get more of my editing done (which is a positive thing) or it will force me to try indoor photography with things like macros, etc. For my birthday/Christmas I have my sights set on a new macro lens Nikon Telephoto AF Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR (Vibration Reduction) Autofocus Lens:

Still Searching For Signs of Fall

Left work as early as I could because it's getting darker and darker much earlier now (boooo).

I drove a different way home to try to see what I could find for fall colors. I had a hard time finding things to photograph. I decided to stop near this college campus that I spotted. I found a few interesing things to capture but almost all of the shots were completely ruined by the blown out sky.

The sky looked good to my eye but almost every shot I took it came out white. I tried various angles, settings, the polarizer and nothing worked. I couldn't win so I tried my best to shoot things without including the sky.

Here are a few I took avoiding the sky showing the autumn season:

Lunch Snaps and Shots Along the Way Home

During lunch I stopped a local park near my work that my co-worker suggested to me. The sky was really bad today but I don't think these photos came out bad at all.

They gave me a some "almost fall" shots to work with:

When I was walking back to the car I spotted this window on an apartment building. The thing that caught my eye was the little tiny pumpkin on the windowsill. Something about it just told me to snap a shot:

On the way home after work I stopped for a few minutes at this cemetery I pass. I was specifically looking for signs of fall at the cemetery. I particularly like these 2 signs of fall in this peaceful place:

Close to the cemetery is a church that I love love the steeple on. I noticed there were some fall colors on the surrounding trees so I took some photos of the scene:
